Kueh Ho Jiak – Ang Ku Kueh at Tanjong Pagar

OCTOBER 30, 2020

Pretty, and really pungent and fragrant hae bi hiam ang ku kueh. This really pushed my boundaries in terms of the acceptable flavours in an ang ku kueh, but was quite innovative as always from this stall.

The ang ku kueh here was seriously heavenly. Soft stretchy skin of just the right thickness, with a texture like mochi or even muah chee. Mung bean filling that was smooth and fine, with distinct flavours. The durian and coffee ang ku kueh were lightly perfumed with the said flavours, allowing you to still taste the original flavours. The boss said though that the ang ku kueh were sold out by 2pm on most days, and it would be best to call ahead to reserve.

This to me is one of the top three ang ku kueh stalls in Singapore. The skin was springy and chewy. The mung bean paste filling smooth and sweet. They had interesting flavours too. The durian and mango ones that I got were faintly perfumed with the respective fruits, and were nice variations to the traditional ang ku kueh.
