From the people behind Da Shi Jia Big Prawn Mee at Killiney Road. Very serviceable bak chor mee. The noodles were soft and springy, sauce lightly savoury, meat and liver fresh and qq, and pork lard crispy. Not bad.

Sim Lim Square Minced Pork Noodle at Kelantan Lane Jalan Besar

Moved from Sim Lim Square to Redhill and back to Jalan Besar. The mee pok was springy, and came in a strong, savoury, spicy and slightly tangy sauce. The dumpling was crispy and tasty, fishcake tender and full of fresh fish flavour, and fishballs springy. Nice stuff.

勝和鱼圆肉脞面 Seng Hoe Fish Ball Minced Meat Noodle at Marine Terrace Marine Parade

The noodles were cooked well – springy and refreshing. The sauce was quite light, having predominately a light soy sauce flavour. The lightly spicy turned out to be quite spicy. The ingredients were factory made and standard, although the pork was fresh and fish dumplings quite nice – gummy outside and meaty inside. The whole bowl – bak chor mee with add-on fish dumplings – cost qute a lot though at $8 ($6 for bcm + $2 or her kiao).

古早味蓝星鱼圆肉胜面 Blue Star Fish Ball Minced Meat Noodles at Tanjong Pagar Plaza

The noodles were slightly soft but full flavoured. I could taste the chilli, vinegar, and umami and sweet mushroom sauce – it all came together for a satisfying mix. The mushrooms were really flavourful, and everything else was competent. The pork lard was also seriously crispy and fragrant. The rest of the ingredients were standard fare but were cooked well.

Recommended by Small Potatoes Make The Steak Look Bigger. The mee pok was cooked really well, and was qq and springy. The sauce was just mild savoury without much vinegar. Tge accompanying ingredients were generous and also cooked well, although generic. This was an old school one man operation, with the owner taking some care and time to churn our each bowl.

Recommended by Miss Tam Chiak, with a serious ten person queue constantly. The noodles were done very well – tender, smooth and qq with bite, in a strong vinegary spicy lardy sauce, and coming with fresh crispy pork lard. The ingredients were all standard fare but cooked well, including the fresh liver and bouncy fishballs.

五十年代潮州鱼丸肉脞面 Fu Cheng Redhill 85 50’s Teochew Minced Meat Noodle at Redhill Lane

The noodles were tender and springy, in a nice lardy and vinegary sauce and coming with really crispy lard. The fishcakes were sweet and moist, fishballs and meatball springy, smooth and even-textured, likely factory made. Serviceable bowl.
