Ga-Hock Roti Prata at Upper Bukit Timah

AUGUST 25, 2022

Very fresh tasting prata, hot off the pan, with a nice floury fragrance, some crispy areas and edges, and soft eggy parts. All this was set in a nice kampong like environment opposite Mindef.

Shiba Roti – Roti Prata Tacos at Upper Bukit Timah

MARCH 29, 2022

The tandoori chicken was an ok type of wrap. Interesting eat in terms of a fusion prata, but not something that I will specifically go back for. The prata was toasted and thick and slightly crispy, the tandoori chicken was well spiced and flavoured and paired well with the slightly sour and creamy yoghurt.

Y.R.A. Rasool Fatimah – Prata at ABC Brickworks

AUGUST 13, 2021

The roti prata was made from quite fragrant dough. However, it was cold, chewy, ready-made, and dished out from a bread rack. Hardly worthy of any Michelin whatever (it had actually obtained consecutive Michelin Plate recommendations).

Tanglin Halt Roti Prata

MARCH 30, 2021

This was really an iconic stall here, which has been here like forever. Although the prata wasn’t freshly made, and looked like it had been lying there for a while (up to lunchtime), there was a very nice fragrance to the dough and good chewiness, which was really apparent in the plain prata. Not bad.

Ali Fatimah Food Stall – Prata at Redhill

FEBRUARY 21, 2020

Recommended by Small Potatoes Make The Steak Look Bigger.

This was a very neat and clean stall, with a very methodical owner. Correspondingly, the prata tasted clean and fresh, with amazing fragrance of the dough. This was the doughy and stretchy variety of prata, with only slight but sufficent crispiness. The fragrance was so nice that I really didn’t want to dip the prata into the curry.

The cheese egg onion seemed to be their most fancy prata. And this somehow again managed to taste fresh, as well as rich with the cheese and savoury with the egg and onion. And it was soft like a pancake, and a bit like a cheesy 菜包. Good stuff.

I came back again on February 24 for the plaster, which “got standard”. The plaster combined the faint crispiness and fragrance of the plain, plus the flowy oozy goodness of the egg. Very nice.

You wouldn’t know that this was such a popular stall if you came during lunch, since they closed by 10 plus. But this was really popular, with a perpetual 5 to 10-person long queue.

Chindamani Indian Restaurant – Top / Best Crispy Roti Prata at Hougang

JANUARY 18, 2020

The plain prata was made upon order and tasted fresh, light and shatteringly crispy. The crispiness especially at the edges was amazing, like a biscuit. The plaster was very well made, with the egg in the plaster just flowing. This was very good prata, and a very good recommendation by The Straits Times. One of the best prata in Singapore in my opinion, albeit hard to get to.

Kedai Makan Islamic Restoran – Roti Cobra at Kota Kinabalu

JULY 4, 2019

This roti prata or roti canai was like a plaster, although the yolk was still molten and not attached to the prata, and the curry was directly on the roti, rather than coming in a separate plate. The curry was quite shiok, but the chicken was not (it was really tough). The roti itself was quite normal.
