The Noodle Memories – Pan Mee at Hong Lim

MAY 15, 2023

Recommended by 8 Days. The noodles were very tasty – savoury, fragrant, full of the nice soy sauce flavour. Everything else – the minced meat, black fungus strips and fried shallots etc. – complemented very nicely, and the crispy tau kee was especially nice.

Ng Kuan Chilli Pan Mee at Bencoolen Street Bugis

MAY 11, 2023

Very nice and tasty with layers of flavours and textures from the juicy minced pork, ikan billis, fried shallots, garlic and a runny egg. The noodles were cooked well without being too soft and retaining bite, and the chilli spicy and fragrant of hae bi hiam without being painful. Worth coming back again.

Yanan Ban Mian Noodle at Telok Blangah Drive

DECEMBER 28, 2022

The noodles were nicely cooked, springy with bite, with a nice layering of savoury soy sauce, sesame oil and other flavourings. The fried fish was very nice, fresh, crispy outside and tender inside. The prawn was sweet and qq, and the fried dumplings shatteringly crisp with a small orb of meat inside.

Went back again on January 13 for the soup ban mian. The soup was slightly savoury and comforting, and the bowl came with tender and fatty meatballs, and the same array of nice accompanying fried stuff.

Greenview Cafe – Mee Hoon Kueh at Far East Plaza Scotts Road Orchard

OCTOBER 10, 2022

Recommended by eatbook.sg; apparently a thirty year old cafe. Chewy and qq mee hoon kueh. Interesting clear herbal soup with good depth and layers of flavour. Came with minced meatballs, slightly bitter sayur manis, and crunchy and fragrant fried ikan bilis. Comforting and great for a rainy day.

Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway at Telok Blangah Crescent

FEBRUARY 23, 2022

Very solid savoury-salty stock, with a good smokiness, layering of flavours and a prominent dried sole fish accent. The mee hoon kway was chewy and biteable, and the meat and meat and prawn balls were fresh, flavourful, bouncy and soft. Very nice.

Handmade Mee Hoon Kueh – Ban Mian at Marsiling

AUGUST 15, 2021

A very standard ban mian. The soup had a light, refreshing and hearty flavour, and was paired with slightly springy noodles, fresh prawns, and canned razor clams and baby abalone. This appeared to be popular among residents here, but was nothing to go back specially for.

Chilli Pan Mee (Batu Road)

DECEMBER 7, 2018

Not bad, although not outstanding. A serviceable bowl of noodles, fairly smooth and slippery with the egg and the various other ingredients.

61 Teban Gardens Ban Mian Fish Soup

OCTOBER 2, 2018

A very serviceable bowl of ban mian, with springy tasty noodles, good fresh minced pork, crispy ikan bilis, and good hearty soup. The egg added a nice fragrance and body to the soup.
