Recommended by Miss Tam Chiak and SethLui.com. Really flavourful and hearty textural porridge, made from I think a good and flavourful broth, with the fragrance uplifted by the egg and the fried shallots. The minced meat was flavourful as well, the liver cooked just nice and the meatballs bouncy – everything tasted fresh to boot. The whole piece of youtiao was interesting but was neither crispy nor airy. Overall good though.
Afternote: It really irks me when the writers of these widely read food blogs do not know what they are talking, or when their expression appears to convey a weakness when they don’t mean so. What do you mean when you say the consistency of the porridge was not the smoothest. This is what some porridges (e.g. Hainanese porridge) are like – you can see and taste the rice grains. Not all porridge is Cantonese porridge. Omg.
