Recommended by SethLui.com, as KL’s best rated wanton mee. The varying queueing and ordering systems in KL are sometimes really confounding. Here, you order at the counter first, wait around for your number to be called, before being seated. The wait was not too bad at Sunday noontime – I arrived at 12:40, was seated at 12:50, and got my wanton mee at 1. The sio bak or siew yoke had just run out though.
The kopi was thick, strong and chocolatey, with a nice malty sweetness. The noodles were springy in a tasty sweet savoury soy sauce, and the char siew was thick, fairly tender, smoky, balanced sweet and nicely caramelised. The wantons were silky with nicely marinated tender meat filling with tee poh fragrance. Nice – I would go back if I was back in KL.
